Canal and Playpark

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

On Monday, I took Evan and Arlo for a walk along the canal to give them fresh air and me some exercise.  The water in the canal was frozen solid:

After our canal walk, we went to the playpark.  Evan on the climbing frame:

Canal, Cattle and Capers

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

It was a bright, crisp day on Saturday so we took the boys to Crinan to see the boats on the canal.  Orin made his own treasure hunt list, drawing it on a piece of kitchen towel:

Evan found the lifesaver ring from the list:

Aidan found letters and so got to tick that item:

Aidan found numbers, another item on the treasure hunt list:

The lighthouse was also treasure:

I appreciate it is a bit random, but I really liked the combined textures of the old wood and the ropes:

Arlo looking distinctly unenthusiastic:

All the items found!

I loved this old creel:

I love Highland cattle so I had to take a few photos of them:

After our jaunt around Crinan, we took the boys for a walk around Moine Mhor.  Evan doing tightrope walking:

You know I cannot resist a photo of lichen.  Amusingly, Evan referred to lichen as “Viking”:

Evan found a twig shaped like a gun:

Orin is so addicted to drawing that he used blades of grass to create a collage figure:

Cauliflower, Cookies and Cuties

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

Aidan and Orin completed this spooky jigsaw together with no help from me and good team work.  They were pleased with themselves and asked me to take a photo of them:

I fed Arlo cauliflower for the first time.  This was his reaction.  Do you think he likes it?

I was looking after my friend Mina’s wee boy George on Friday.  So to keep a pre-schooler, two toddlers and a baby amused, we made cookies.  George had a turn stirring the mixture together:

Then Orin did:

Then Evan did:

Of course, they all had to have a lick of the spoon at the end:

Valentines Day Walk

Monday, February 15th, 2010

My parents came to stay this weekend and on Sunday, which happened to be Valentines Day, we went out for a stroll around Kilmory Gardens.

Paige the pudgy chihuahua stayed behind in the house:

February Photos

Monday, February 15th, 2010

The nursery Orin and Evan attend threw a coffee morning a couple of weekends ago and the boys all had their faces painted.  Orin did have a bat on his face but a tear-strewn strop made half of it run before I could get a photo of it, Aidan was a spooky skull and Evan was a tiger:

Aidan and Orin both managed to earn enough stickers to complete their reward charts.  Aidan chose a pack of Ice Age Top Trumps and Orin picked a Gollum figure:

The boys had fun playing with Knex and got me to take photos of their favourite creations:
