Woodland Walk

What better way to spend Valentines Day than wandering around in some woods with three sword-wielding boys?

The woods were covered in lots of dainty snowdrops - so obviously I had to switch to macro and snap some pics:

How does a toddler tell his Mummy that he has had enough of being photographed?  By battering her with a sword, of course:

Random Snaps of the Boys

I thought I would post some recent photos of the boys that don’t really fit into a specific blog entry.

Dragon Diary

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

Aidan’s homework assignment last night was to bring home the class dragon for the evening (the current theme is fairy tales) and write a diary of him with accompanying pictures.  This is what he came up with.

The dragon met Orin and Evan:

Aidan gave the dragon a health check-up:

Aidan read him a book about dragons:

The dragon phoned his brother:

The dragon ate sticky maple ribs for dinner:

So then Aidan set to constructing the diary entry and, three pages of creative writing later and photos all stuck in, Aidan announced that the teacher had told the pupils they should just take one page in which to write up the dragon’s day of activity.  So I had to write a note explaining that we had gotten a bit carried away prior to a key instruction being relayed.  (It would help if instructions had been sent home in some fashion other than Aidan’s memory, of course).

Still, Aidan and the dragon had fun!

Brrrrr!

What else is there to do on a sub-zero day except take a visit to the beach?

Yup, we never seem to go to the beach on anything other than a chilly day.  Despite being wrapped up in several layers, we were all frozen to the marrow in an instant:

Orin immediately started heading back to the car:

Even Aidan, who is normally very hardy and impervious to the cold, was feeling distinctly chilly:

Chris, Evan and Orin clambering down a dune:

Evan giggling:

Aidan pretending to sledge on the sand:

After stopping off for some ice cream (yes, really), we headed up the other side of the peninsula and stopped off at the ruins of Saddell Abbey.

Orin looks like a mini-Goth in this photo, what with the graveyard setting and the black Darth Vader hoodie:

Then we came home to thaw out!
