Meet Twinky!

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

I am finally, five months into this pregnancy, sharing the news that we are having another baby.  Our fifth baby boy at that.  He is expected to put in an appearance on 23 June - or thereabouts since only he gets to decide.

Obviously the excitement we feel about adding to our family has been balanced be fear and anxiety.  In addition to the trauma of losing Tottie, this pregnancy has not been without its own dramas.  I full expect to weather a few more before we get to serve the eviction notice.  However, we are past one of our biggest hurdles now - the anomoly ultrasound detected no problems whatsoever with this wee one.  We are, as you would expect, hugely relieved.

His big brothers have decided to name him Twinky.  So here he is: meet Twinky!

Facing forward, head at right, body at left and a hand near the face:

Yoga moves!  In profile with leg curled up over his body and head:

Another profile with hand in view:

This one is harder to make out but what it shows (in the centre of frame) is a raised hand with the pinky sticking out in a “More tea, Vicar?” fashion:

An innocent question …

While looking at some footage of Angelina Jolie on television the other day, Orin asked sweetly:

“Mummy, do you ever wish you were pretty?”

Sharing

The boys were playing upstairs after dinner last night.  Chris and I could hear their herd-like footsteps thumping around in our bedroom … where my toothbrush was recharging.

Aidan came downstairs to notify me.  “Mummy, Evan’s got your toothbrush and he has it in his mouth.”

So up I leapt and, as I was going upstairs to retrieve my toothbrush, Orin shouted down some reassuring words.

“It’s OK, Mummy.  He’s sharing it with me.”

Nice!

Carnassarie Castle

Sunday, January 4th, 2009

Another bitterly cold so what is there to do but go for an outdoorsy trek somewhere?  So off we headed to Carnassarie Castle so that the boys could play at being knights.

The boys walking up the hill - with Orin wandering way behind as always:

Orin nearing the top of the hill:

A view of windows taken through a window (see what I did there?)

Evan having a rest after hiking up the hill:

The view of the glen from the top of the castle:

This view of the rest of the ruin gives an indication of the height.  I had wobbly knees:

Orin on the ramparts:

A view through a window:

Aidan and Orin fighting with swords:

while Evan found his own cubby hole to sit in:

The other side of the castle:

Evan rolling around on the grass pretending some knights had battered him:

Chris being an archer.  Apparently firing toy arrows at your children is therapeutic:

Evan perched on a rock:

An old gateway:

Aidan rolling around in leaves while pretending they were quicksand:

I absolutely love this portrait of Aidan:

A rare sight - Orin way out in front of the rest of us and running too!

First Photos of 2009

Friday, January 2nd, 2009

These photos were taken on a trek around Barnluasgan loch when it was bitterly cold.

Evan taking his hood down:

Aidan:

The boys brought some Action Men with them so they had to join in the adventures:

Strolling with Daddy:

Orin:

I thought this photo of Orin and Evan holding hands was cute:

Orin and Evan on a tree:

This is Chris’ guide to how to handle two moaning wee boys who are refusing to walk:

And this is what the children concerned look like when Daddy decides his arms are too tired for any more weight-lifting:

The boys and their Action Men paddling in the loch:

Evan looking deep in thought:

I will conclude with Aidan making some kind of weird face:
