K’Nex

I have not updated the blog for a while so here are some photos of the boys playing with K’Nex this morning.

Otter Ferry

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

It was not raining on Saturday and so we decided to go for a ramble.  Of course, the reason it was not raining was because it was bitterly cold.  Despite being wrapped up in several layers, we were all frozen to the marrow within an instant.

Our walk was through some forestry land to Otter Ferry, an old jetty where a ferry used to cross the loch …. but you won’t see photos of that because my camera ran out of battery just minutes into our walk.  Can you imagine what that moment felt like for me?  I should always travel with a back-up camera because I cannot handle being without one.

In the end it was only Aidan and I who made it as far as the jetty anyway as Orin and Evan threw a sit down protest and Chris had to humf them both back to the car - an exercise that warmed him up a treat.

We shall probably attempt this walk again when the wind is not whipping us and turning us to icicles.

Anyway, here are the photos I did manage to get - which are no doubt nowhere as good as the ones I would have got if the battery had not given up the ghost.  Sigh.

Our wee political pundit

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

I guess there has been a lot of political discussion in our house during the US election campaign.

When Orin appeared in our bedroom this morning the first thing he said to us was not “Good Morning” or even his usual non-sequeter about Star Wars.  Nope, the first utterance was …

“So, did Obama win?”

Kilmartin Glen

Sunday, November 2nd, 2008

On the Sunday after the Lantern Parade, we took a walk through Kilmartin Glen before Leanne and her boys headed back to Fife.

Leanne:

Rhys looking like a cheeky pixie:

Aidan balancing on a stone:

It’s my compulsory ethereal photo of a standing stone:

Orin:

I did not get any really good photos of Jordan for some reason.  Here he is doing some wierd pose:

Evan inside a burial cyst:

Rhys sitting on a standing stone:

Standing stone circle:

Evan and Orin rolling around on an interpretive board:

“In the cookies of life, sisters are the chocolate chips” - but we’re mostly nuts!

Orin climbing out of a burial cairn:

And Aidan on top of the burial cairn, sticking his hand through a hole:

Evan weilding a lightsaber:

This would have been a lovely photos of Chris with Evan and Orin if the background was not so cluttered with other people:

Lantern Parade

Saturday, November 1st, 2008

My sister, Leanne, and her boys, Jordan and Rhys, came over this weekend to see our town’s annual Lantern Parade and bonfire and fireworks display.

Chris and Evan watching the parade:

Rhys:

Orin being cheeky running around in the dark - and refusing to wear his coat:

Aidan resting on the pavement:

Me and Leanne:

The beginning to the actual Lantern Parade:

A moving lion rampant (made by my friend, Maisie):

A huge bull:

Watching the fireworks:

Evan did not like the loud noises this year and had to be taken home early:

Some of the fireworks from the fantastic display:
